Care Coordination & Client Funding : New Updates

What are Funding Periods, and do I have to use them?

1 min read Updated October 2026

  • A Funding Period splits a category’s budget into blocks of time, for example quarters, so you can track spending per period. They’re optional.

To create one:

Step 1:

In Budget Details, allocate a quantity to at least one line item in the category and click Save. The Funding Period button for that category becomes active.

Step 2:

Click Funding Period on that category.

Step 3:

Click Add Funding Period.

Step 4:

Enter a Name, Start Date, End Date and Allocation Amount, then click Save.

Step 5:

A card appears showing the period’s Base Allocation, Spent and Unspent amounts.

To use it:

  • when you roster a shift, pick the Funding Period. When that shift is invoiced, the amount comes off the period as well as the category.

Good to know:

  • Periods must sit inside the plan dates and can’t overlap within the same category. Different categories can share the same dates.
  • All periods in a category together can’t be more than the category budget. They don’t depend on your line item allocations.
  • Every period stays available to pick when rostering until you delete it.
  • If you delete a period linked to rostered shifts, RotaWiz asks you to confirm. The shifts stay, but lose the link to that period.
  • When a plan is archived, its Funding Periods are deleted.
